ATI cuts prices for its 4870 cards

Written by IT News on 2:43 AM

Big graphic video manufacturer, ATI, Advanced Micro Devices' graphics division, recently announced that it plans to reduce prices of its Radeon HD 4870-graphics cards. According to the company, the graphics solutions will be available in at least one online store for only $ 199 for 512 MB graphics cards. AMD previously sold its ATI Radeon HD 4850-cards on the same $ 199 price-point. The Radeon HD 4870 512MB graphics solution is sold for that price becomes the most successful results-traditional option on the market right now.

The price of ATI Radeon HD 4870 will be worse and we expect it to 512 MB and 1 GB boards should be available at Newegg today for around $ 199 and $ 239 respectively offer an even more compelling value , a spokesman for ATI / AMD said.

As many of you already know, ATI put a lot of effort to capture more than 50 percent of the market for standalone graphics solutions. Moreover, it is a common fact that ATI does not slash prices for its finished products as a way to get more market share. According to the reports published by Market Tracker Jon Peddie Research, NVIDIA accounted for 60 percent of the graphics card shipments in the third quarter of this year with its GeForce chips, while ATI Radeon solutions only held about 40 percent of the market.

If ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB goes for $ 199 in a single online store, the game will hardly change in ATI's service, or will this enable the company to increase its presence in the market significantly. Despite this, some other regional agreements for the red team's card can also be displayed, especially given that ATI seems decided to offer its high-performance products at discounted prices in the current economic environment.

At the same time, we should also note that NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 260 withdrawn seen several price reductions lately. Supplemented with the new driver release from NVIDIA, the card has managed to outpace ATI's cards on the market. In addition, Newegg also sells a MSI built overclocked GeForce GTX 260 by 192 processing cores for only $ 200.
