McAfee AVERT Stinger is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool that helps administrators and users when dealing with an infected system.

Stinger uses next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations.

The filename has been changed from "stinger.exe" to "s-t-i-n-g-e-r.exe" to circumvent anti-stinger tactics used by Sober.p.

The new combination of anti-virus and anti-spyware products, the online from Sunbelt Software

VIPRE is entirely new, built from zero anti-virus and anti-spyware product. The engine is of the anti-virus Sunbelt his own creation, no license from another company. That was a big company, consume millions of dollars a year cost of R & D and thousands of hours of work.

There is a new version of CounterSpy, and (version 3.0), a subset of VIPRE (VIPRE is technically an overlay of CounterSpy, so you need not CounterSpy on your system when you VIPRE.)

CounterSpy Enterprise versions of VIPRE and will be for several weeks after the release of consumer goods.

Upgrade from previous versions of VIPRE 3
This beta version is the earliest building built VIPRE 3rd If you currently have a version of VIPRE 3 installed, you can download it, or run the whole plant just listed above or you can upgrade at VIPRE itself - one only has to check for updates and follow the instructions VIPRE when a new version of VIPRE is available.

Uninstall first CounterSpy
If a version of CounterSpy is currently installed on your system, you need to uninstall this before with the installation VIPRE 3rd You can CounterSpy the Add / Remove Programs Control Panel applet.

· Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
· IBM Compatible 400MHZ Computer with minimum 256MB of RAM
· 150mb of available hard drive space
