Yahoo Mail Sucker pr81

As you probably know, Yahoo Mail does not provide free POP access to its users any more. You can still use your YM account for free, but you have to use a Yahoo Mail web site to access your account.

This is not very convenient as you always have to be online, you cannot use your favourite e-mail client to read your messages, and so on. You can easily immagine the disadvantages of having to manage all your corespondence via web.

When Yahoo disabled its free POP access, the first thing that came to my mind was to change my e-mail account. But then I realized, there are far too many people used to my current Yahoo Mail address, that I am used to my YM address very much too and I thought - if Yahoo closes a free service, the other services will follow sooner or later. So changing an e-mail service/account wasn't really solution.

That is when I have decided to write YoSucker as a simple portable perl application, that would simulate a user actions to retrieve my mail to my local inbox. Yahoo Mail Sucker simply connects to the Yahoo Mail web site, parses the HTML code and fetches new messages.

With time I have added lots of other features and functionality (like support for multiple accounts, support for procmail, support for local Yahoo Mail sites, for proxy connection and much more) but the basic idea still stay the same.

PhpGmailDrive is a new type of file sharing utility. Unlike typical file servers (say xDrive) it uses Gmail as backend file server. You can enjoy it simply by hosting a small PHP script in your web site without any database.

Gmail file space is more than 2GB, so you can imagine you already have such a big space on internet. However, you will require a Gmail account (If you don't have any Gmail address, go GmailSwap or ask your friends.).

ZTC 8898, the Sony Ericsson & HTC Wannabe

Imitation (voluntarily or not) is not an uncommon thing in the mobile industry. There are, were and will always be cases of devices that resemble other devices.
If we only think about the iPhone and the army of handsets that tried to copy its look, we have enough material to study for a long, long time.

ZTC, the Chinese manufacturer, brings now a phone that wants to resemble not just one other brand, but other two. The handset, named ZTC 8898, is a dual-band GSM phone working on the 900 / 1800 Mhz network. When closed, it offers a pretty nice view, looking like a K-series phone from Sony Ericsson. The not so nice view comes when the device is open and reveals a HTC-like full QWERTY keyboard. Which wouldn't have been such a big problem if everything had looked as stylish as on the HTC handsets, but compared to them, the ZTC 8898 appears cheap and amateurish. The keyboard is weird, coming with Windows and Internet Explorer keys, despite the fact that the phone's interface doesn't look at all like a Windows one. Furthermore, the two speakers on the right and left side of the screen look like they belong to my grandmother's old radio – not a nice thing to see on a mobile device.

ZTC 8898 comes with two big displays, an external 2.5 inch one featuring touchscreen, and an internal 2.8 inch one. The latter is probably intended to be used mainly for games, since the phone has a built-in NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Game Simulator and is said to support up to 4000 NES Games.


The phone has a fair dimension (108 × 51 × 18 millimeters) considering its big screens and the QWERTY keyboard, and also packs other features that are not bad: GPRS, dual-sim card slots, MP3 and MP4 player, Bluetooth, microSD support and a 1.3 Megapixel camera.

What's cool – and I mean it – about the phone is that it packs two 2200 mAh batteries which provide a talk-time of up to 500 minutes and an incredible stand-by time of up to 900 hours, meaning more than a whole month!

Although ZTC 8898 doesn't appear on the producer's official site, the phone can be bought from DealExtreme, an international online shopping center, for the price of 189 US Dollars. I say "good luck" to those who wish to try it.

By now, there are not too many people unaware what Group 3 means. If there is someone, then find out that 3 is a brand used for nine mobile telecommunications networks in Europe, Asia and Australia.

The one holding the interests in these networks is Hutchison Whampoa. The networks offer "mobile multimedia" and also provide 3G technology, WCDMA, even if some of them are running on 2G networks.

With headquarters in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong and Macau, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, 3 has 3G-license in Israel, but there the company works under the Orange brand.

The services offered by the firm and, also, its programs launched along the years are focusing on
Mobile TV and Skype services. Video calling and fast Internet access is also a thing that 3 supports and these are made via most of its handsets.

And now, 3 has made a new announcement: the company will offer mobile broadband on a "Pay As You Go" basis. With this new service people will be able to stay connected "on the go", renouncing at the minimum-term contract.

But things are not as easy as they seem. A customer can have his own PAYG USB Modem, if he'll pay a sum of 100 British pounds, approximately 200 US dollars. The USB modem comes in few colors, pink and black, besides the white standard version. If you don't like any of the colors, a new green version has just been released. Should you dislike the designs of the model, the deal that has been made between the 3 Group and Skins4Things will make your device cooler. You can choose from skins like leopard, polka dots or Union Jack, which are for now available.

But, the costs won't stop here. After paying this, you'll have to pay another 99.99 British pounds in order to purchase the Top-Up. The Top-Up can be converted to 10, 15 or 25 British pounds that will give you broadband add-on from 1Gb, 3Gb or 7Gb download limits, with an extra MBs that will be automatically charged with 1 pound.

Every day I turn on my computer the first thing I always do is checking my inbox and open my chat system. This may be done by million of peoples around the world. It's because people won't to lose any information wherever they stay.

I personally prefer to use chat for communicate with my friends, family and partners while I am out of town. "Chatting" is cheapest communication compare to other communications parties. What you need is only computer and the internet, the rest is usually free.

Recently I've found new Network communities that offering free online web chat, share photos, blog, make friends, find old acquaintances and socialize.

The search criteria is so simple, you can fill one of provided text-box such as member names, gender, age, country or city. It's surprising me, when I try input Jakarta at city field, it immediately give me a list with peoples living in Jakarta, wow it was great!

Once you've found friends, you can open their profiles, their blogs or see their picture on the galley pages and you can add into your friends list, it's more than just a chat programs, its the best and new in friends-network.

If you are so familiar with famous chat client software, then several smiley-code it's also work here, for example when you type ":)" it will show you "smile-face" or ";)" will show you "blinking eyes", off course not all smiley-code work. It's run faster event it running on the webs and no required to install any software. It's really interesting, the last is I want to tell you that the registration is so simple, only takes a minutes.

Free dialup monitor software

Still using a dialup connection at home? my bad experience while using dialup is only at the speed, Its lucky if I connected at 33.00 kbps, I don't in your area could be different. Secondly, sometime s I forgot to turn off (disconnect) the modem, it worse! my monthly cost increased due to Internet connection bill.

At the moment I have use GPRS connection wich is cheaper and faster compare to dialup connection. Those, I would like to share you how to prevent from that bad experience.

Just use a small free software to control manage your modem, DialupMon can really prove to be a real money saver for you!

You specifiy the amount of time before DialupMon will prompt you to disconnect. If you choose to cancel the auto-disconnect then DialupMon will automatically extent your connection time and prompt you again later. If you are not there when this prompt is shown it will disconnect automatically! DialupMon will also show you all the connection information.

DialupMon is 100% free and according to the firewall I have used, absolutely clean, therefore it can be installed with no concern by any computer user.

If you are Linux users, then you will familier with Gaim. And what is pidgin?
Pidgin, previously known as Gaim, is a multi-protocol instant messaging client for Linux, BSD, MacOS X, and Windows. Pidgin messenger is compatible with AIM and ICQ (Oscar protocol), MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, IRC, Jabber, SILC, Gadu-Gadu, GroupWise Messenger, and Zephyr networks.

Big Day for GMail

The one field that Google still trails Yahoo! by far is that of the email services, where of the two, Yahoo! is king and Google isn’t even close to being a serious runner up, when it comes to the numbers of users.

That’s nothing, says Google, I’ll just add
some features and work my way up to the top. But by doing this, besides the latest update that added rich emoticons and group chat, the question that burns a hole through all my GMail related thoughts remains without an answer: will there be a client for Gtalk or has the project been completely dropped? Time will tell, but the time it takes them seems to be just more than bearable.

Group chat is the first addition and it can be accessed by clicking the "Group Chat" from the "Options" menu, while chatting. The next step is to enter the names of those you’d want to add and that’s about it, you’re in your very own chat room. All the previous functions, like chat archiving and taking the chat off the record, are also implemented and work just fine.

The smilies that have been added are actually what had been bothering me for a long time, the blasted buggers just wouldn’t look pretty and there was no news update about somebody working on them. I guess it was worth it after all, they do look pretty cool now. The button that opens the available emoticon menu is nice and fits in with the overall appearance of the chat window, and it also gives you the option to select the style of the smilies you send, old dull style or the two newer rich emoticon styles.

The feature only works with GMail 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6.

It’s been 25 years and a couple of months since the first smilie face has been drawn by Carnegie Mellon University professor Scott E. Fahlman, and look how far it’s come.

AT&T Announced 3G iPhone

The big news is that AT&T has just announced the next version of the iPhone. Unfortunately, this isn't big news at all, as anyone that actually owns a 3G phone can tell. Even before the iPhone was released a 3G version was not a matter of if, but of when… and AT&T’s timing is just plain bad.

At a meeting of the Churchill Club in Santa Clara, California,
AT&T Inc. Chief Executive Officer, Randall Stephenson said that Apple will be introducing a new version of the iPhone next year. The device will function on the third-generation wireless networks, and be able to access the Internet at a much faster rate than is available today.

Answering a question about when the 3G version of the iPhone will debut, Stephenson said: "You'll have it next year." When asked about the price, he answered that he didn’t know how much it would cost, adding that Steve Jobs "will dictate what the price of the phone is."

Of course, the 3G iphone is not exactly news, and has already been talked about by Steve Jobs at iPhone launch in the UK.

"3G chipsets... are real power hogs. Most phones now have battery lives of 2 to 3 hours and that's due to these very power-hungry 3G chip sets... [iPhone] has 8 hours of talk time life. That's really important when you start to surf the Internet and want to use the phone to listen to music. We've got to see the battery lives for 3G get back up into the 5+ hour range. Hopefully we'll see that later next year."

Of course, there is a big difference between "hopefully we'll see that later next year" and "you'll have it next year," which is why only some people should be doing the announcements. Such an announcement on the eve of the holiday shopping season is not the best of moves, as it can lead to some people holding off until next year. On the other hand, doing so would be rather futile as Apple is not going to come out with anything new until after the Asia launch, which is still a long way ahead.
