New Processor Offers Microsoft's Multimedia Platform with 50% Performance Boost

Microsoft promises that the new processor from Sigma Designs will offer cost-effective and high-performance design services, which are building solutions on top of the Redmond Company’s multimedia platform. The integration between Mediaroom Internet Protocol Television and Sigma SMP8654 SoC next generation of set-top products possibly in partnership with Microsoft and Sigma Designs. The upcoming digital media system-on-a-chip with Sigma Designs will feature support DVR Anywhere, from computer to exchange and related TVcontent television services combined with Microsoft's IPTV and multimedia platforms.

Microsoft and Sigma Designs promise that SMP8654 Mediaroom propose, it is estimated that 50% of productivity growth. SMP8654 established as the successor of the SMP8634, and proposes to extend Microsoft Mediaroom ecosystems decisions. The media processor results in a multi-core architecture of the table with 500 MHz Mips 24k core processor optimized with the second MS Mips processor.
