DFI Warns Customers on Counterfeit Motherboards

Motherboard manufacturer DFI has just issued a consumer warning about some counterfeit motherboard models, which are widely as the production company. However, despite the fact that counterfeit pieces similar to DFI in the model simulation are stamped as UFR MCP78V and MCP68PV, two models which are not represented in the company's portfolio.


In particular counterfeit unit in the Indonesian market, and UFR investigations, which unveiled that counterfeit motherboards distributed at the local computer, called TIGA. Moreover, through imitation UFR branding appears to be prepared to board a Chinese manufacturer J and B.

"We appealed to the alleged cease and desist party to the act. DFI will not allow and permit any illegal use and introduced in the legal department to take action to stop the unauthorized conduct. Meanwhile, we would like to draw the attention of the general public to the potential loss of some consumer rights when buying counterfeit UFR motherboards ", said the company's warning.






In fake motherboards erroneously identified as DFI products can cause a lot of trouble for users. Counterfeit products are usually built with poor quality products and manufactured without respect to the chipset and processor manufacturer’s instructions and safety requirements.

The most important problems that might arise in the use of counterfeit motherboards are relevant to the VRM modules, which could lead to limited CPU support (sub-100 W), because they are built with low-quality capacitors, as well as the loss of customer guarantees or other privileges.

DFI is not the only goal for the hardware market. Network specialist Cisco face the same challenges in the beginning of March, when the U.S. and Canada Customs authorities confiscated 78 million U.S. USA in the amount of counterfeit brand network gear as Cisco Systems.

However, the vast majority of counterfeit goods target mobile phones, especially iPhone clones manufactured in China. The German authorities triggered an investigation, at CeBIT, and seized thousands of counterfeit products, which were demonstrated during the event.
