Written by IT News on 11:02 PM

UK life is not easy on Manhunt 2. It is a positive violent game and the British often frown on the kind of senseless violence Manhunt prides. And the BBFC, the British Board of Film Classification, has initially ruled that the game is "a significant risk of harm" that made it unsuitable for sale in the United Kingdom.

In the United Kingdom, the BBFC is the only body responsible
For the assessment media products, so that their availability should be limited to certain target groups, the products of films or games. When a product is deemed too dangerous for release, the board may refuse to grant a classification and effective ban on the introduction of the product. Manhunt was first filed in June 2007 and the graphic content depicted in the game is cited as the reason for the game is refused a classification.

Rockstar at the same time stated that there was no difference between the level of violence in Manhunt 2 and the degree of violence that can be found in other products which are rated 18 +, as the popular Saw movie series. Afterward the edited evaluation version games are also rejected by BBFC.

Rockstar at once stated that there was no difference between the level of violence in Manhunt 2 and the level of violence which could be found in other products that are rated 18+, like the popular Saw movie series. It then submitted an edited version of the game for evaluation, which the BBFC also rejected.

After a fairly long legal battle, in which the Video Appeals Committee and a judicial review of certain decisions, the BBFC is now required to play 18 + and then permission to be sold in the United Kingdom.

The decision stipulates that the level of violence in the game is no more than the level of violence in other media products, mainly movies. The double standard that was originally set for Manhunt 2, based on a video game, is now lifted. In the United Kingdom, the decision regarding Manhunt 2 sets a legal precedent and makes it more difficult for the censors to restrict the sale of games that depict violence.
