The virus definitions, or. DAT, files contain an update of virus signatures and other information that Network Associates anti-virus products to protect your computer against a thousands of computer viruses in circulation.

DAT files are compatible with our antivirus products (McAfee) using version 4.3.20 (or later) anti-virus engine. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of anti-virus engine to optimize virus detection and cleaning.
We register new DATs on our website in a variety of formats compressed to reduce the transmission time:
Package DAT compressed. This file contains the DAT files, compressed into a ZIP file or tar. You can retrieve and install it manually to update most of our antivirus software. The file is the format DAT-4316.ZIP or DAT-4316.tar, where 4316 is the four-digit version number such as DAT 4321.
DAT installation package, or "file XDAT. This file includes DATs and an executable that installs them. The file is the format 4316XDAT.EXE, where 4316 is the four-digit version number such as DAT 4321.
SuperDAT installation package, or "file SDAT. This file includes DATs and an executable that installs them. It may also include a new anti-virus engine and other components of the programme. The file is the format SDAT4316.EXE, where 4316 is the four-digit version number such as DAT 4321.
