Written by IT News on 1:13 AM

Dell AdamoAt the beginning of the year, Round Rock, Texas-based Dell, the world's leading suppliers of portable computer systems, announced the release of the much anticipated Adamo laptop, an ultra-portable computer that is intended to compete with the Apple MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy HP. With a very slim and elegant design, the new laptop will be made in two different configurations; both are based on Intel's low-power processor platform. One of the biggest drawbacks of this system, despite its attractive design, was that it was priced fairly restrictive price points. But it seems that Dell learned from their mistakes and has recently lowered prices on two models.

The much-hyped Adamo Dell laptop is now available for only U.S. $1499 for 1.2GHz-powered model. This is a good $500 discount on the company's launch price of U.S. $1999 for the same model. The higher end model, which has a SSD storage solution and 1.4GHz processor, is now as low as U.S. $ 2299, a reduction from the original price of U.S. $2700. The company seems to continue like Intel, and has not changed anything on the system configuration.

Although these prices are more than welcome, there are still so the purchasing power of most portable consumer. The new pricing system better position Dell's stylish notebook Adamo to Apple's MacBook Air basic model, i.e. the price of USD in 1499 and has a 1.86GHz processor, 2GB memory and 120GB hard disk space. But the highest performance of the MacBook Air will cost U.S. $1799 and provides a faster 2.13GHz processor, 2GB memory and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics solution.

It will be interesting to see if Adamo will continue to further price declines, which may be a better competitor to the aforementioned MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy.

Console war is a very tough fight between the three manufacturers, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony have been doing their best to attract customers and gain more profit. Although it appears that between 2008 Nintendo dominates his opposition, the battle for second place was a very brutal one.

Despite the competition for Sony, Microsoft prevail through the application of the price of its Xbox 360 console, it seems that things are promising for the PlayStation 3. Even if it reached 18 percent decline in November, for the same period in 2007, in December 2008 was a very good month for the Japanese company and its products.

During the month of the holiday season begins, it appears that Sony achieved solid revenue growth of 130 percent compared with November. This was reinforced by the internal information from the Japanese company, which also found that there is still hope that a strong momentum in 2009, while confirming a statement, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO David Reeves, who expressed his belief that the PS3 will have a major new year.

"Early internal data indicate an increase of more than 130 percent of the PS3 hardware sales holiday season, Black Friday and we also see an increase of almost 40 percent of the total PS3 hardware sales for the calendar year. We are confident that this momentum will continue and in the New Year. “

Although most of the industry analysts and critics of a place in the Sony shameful last place, for the Nintendo and Microsoft, this year could start a lot of changes in the Japanese console. Let us not forget that there are many new features coming to PS3, as part of the new "value added" approach, and if we believe, Microsoft, and almost everyone else in the game industry, apart from Sony, discounts that can be used in the time. All that remains for us to do is wait and see what is projected to become a reality.

ATI cuts prices for its 4870 cards

Written by IT News on 2:43 AM

Big graphic video manufacturer, ATI, Advanced Micro Devices' graphics division, recently announced that it plans to reduce prices of its Radeon HD 4870-graphics cards. According to the company, the graphics solutions will be available in at least one online store for only $ 199 for 512 MB graphics cards. AMD previously sold its ATI Radeon HD 4850-cards on the same $ 199 price-point. The Radeon HD 4870 512MB graphics solution is sold for that price becomes the most successful results-traditional option on the market right now.

The price of ATI Radeon HD 4870 will be worse and we expect it to 512 MB and 1 GB boards should be available at Newegg today for around $ 199 and $ 239 respectively offer an even more compelling value , a spokesman for ATI / AMD said.

As many of you already know, ATI put a lot of effort to capture more than 50 percent of the market for standalone graphics solutions. Moreover, it is a common fact that ATI does not slash prices for its finished products as a way to get more market share. According to the reports published by Market Tracker Jon Peddie Research, NVIDIA accounted for 60 percent of the graphics card shipments in the third quarter of this year with its GeForce chips, while ATI Radeon solutions only held about 40 percent of the market.

If ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB goes for $ 199 in a single online store, the game will hardly change in ATI's service, or will this enable the company to increase its presence in the market significantly. Despite this, some other regional agreements for the red team's card can also be displayed, especially given that ATI seems decided to offer its high-performance products at discounted prices in the current economic environment.

At the same time, we should also note that NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 260 withdrawn seen several price reductions lately. Supplemented with the new driver release from NVIDIA, the card has managed to outpace ATI's cards on the market. In addition, Newegg also sells a MSI built overclocked GeForce GTX 260 by 192 processing cores for only $ 200.
