Not an iPhone killer

Even when it was on stage reputation, the launch of the much awaited Nintendo DS upgrade, the JM, was allegations that Nintendo has finally taken the fight to Apple and Sony. The iPhone, PlayStation Portable and provided with features not available on regular DS. Although there is no phone aspects of the Apple device, the DSI was considered as something that would take a swing at the popularity of the iPhone.

Iwata also that, although the new version of the DS would hit the Japanese market in November, the European and North American markets would get it sometime in 2009. But it depends on how JM would sell in local markets.

All in all, the CR does not seem, in my opinion, a device that can take on the iPhone: but all the other features of the PDA, it does not have a chance

Apple gives away account password

It’s recently to light that Apple developers landing just right to give the password for Marko Karppinen account. He is CEO of MK & C, and software development studio based in Helsinki, Finland, which designs and develops software for Mac. How could such a thing happen? Well, it seems that all the scammer had to do was to send poorly worded message to Apple.

A few days ago Marko Karppinen found much to his surprise that he was unable to log in to Apple developers link. Although their user name and password does not match and clearly has been altered, he was able to regain access to their profile by answering the security question, which is unchanged. Further examination, are found this message in his. Mac mailbox:

"I forget your password of Mac, did not you give me a new password for email Marko [redacted] @ yahoo.com"

It would seem that the attacker send e-mail to Apple, thus managing to obtain the necessary information to access the account. Hackers usually try to get this kind of information through phishing attack the consumer, or hack a service provider. Even with data for hermetic sealing will be more reasonable way to obtain private information. Why worry with such a resource consuming time and effort when all you have to do is ask, and Apple will provide a team? It's no 3D material, but 70 free objects is good enough for the average user

Apple's iPhone to Take a Big Bite of Nintendo's Marketshare

Virus in new Apple iPod

First, let us clarify a question: Because you may ask, "What about the quotes in the title?" I must tell you one thing. This article is not about one of these popular MP3 player, manufactured by Cupertino-based company, it is actually a crappy device probably by some Chinese companies that tries to attract more consumers through the use of Apple logo and name of Product (some of you may believe that the "D" at the end of the iPod looks like an "a" but, what the Heck, it is obvious the producers wanted to take advantage of Apple's success in the market).

While it is obviously violated a trademark case, we are not here to talk about, but legal disputes over some security issues discovered recently.

As you know, more and more computer infections to propagate tried to copy files to their USB removable storage media and, once on a clean computer, and install the system. But what is worse is that some devices, the USB connection with pre-installed, viruses, probably because of ignorance of the manufacturer or to some mistake in the scanning process before shipping. It happened in the past with digital picture frames and it also comes a week ago with HP flash drives.
It seems, however, such as MP3 players are also affected by this issue. Sony Ericsson and Apple does not have a lot in common, except for the fact that the two companies produce and sell mobile devices, among other things. Well, some ingenious owner of the Sony Ericsson W910i seems to have found a way to make his phone SE and Apple look long time lovers.

The owner, we talk about how to have a unique Sony Ericsson W910i: with Apple's apple (he could not have said otherwise), as wallpaper, and not on any background. This phone can be in excellent functionality and very popular. But Apple and Sony Ericsson will probably never think about such things. Sorry.

Apple's Time Capsule to Drive Users Mad

Apple's Time Capsule has been unveiled during the MacWorld Show & Expo earlier last week. As I have mentioned in a previous article, it is a device that can act either as a backup appliance, or as a printing server. More and more users who already have the AirPort Extreme feel they have been used by the big, bitten apple.

Apple's support forums have been invaded by some aggressive messages from Airport Extreme users. AirPort Extreme is a local area wireless networking router, very popular among the Mac users. The mentioned problems are related to the AirPort Extreme and its AirPort Disk feature, which allows users to attach an external USB drive to the router and access that disk via the wireless network.

The problems began showing up in October, when Apple launched Mac OS X 10.5. The company stated that Time Machine will be able to work with AirPort drives, but the feature was stripped down before the finalization of the Leopard operating system. Apple later admitted bluntly that Time Machine didn't support AirPort drives, and left the customers without any explanation.

The true problems started to emerge when Apple unveiled Time Capsule, a hardware appliance that integrates a wireless base station with a 500GB or even 1TB disk drive. People who had previously bought the AirPort Extreme felt offended and started complaining.

"I was one of the suckers to buy an [AirPort Extreme] and 500GB hard drive when Apple posted that Leopard would be the answer to the back-up problem," said a user identified as John Wolcott. "All you needed was [AirPort Extreme] and USB drive and Time Machine would do the rest. I believed them and look where that got me."

Some users jumped at Apple's neck for not having updated the AirPort Extreme to add Time Machine support, while some others complained about the company removing their complaints from the forums. "This Time Capsule thing is just adding insult to injury," argued Christopher Chang. "Please Apple, update Leopard and the AEBS [AirPort Extreme Base Station] firmware so I can do wireless backups with my MBP and AEBS. For the love of God."

Apple refuses to answer the customers' demands. Moreover, Steve Jobs confirmed that there will be further updates to a range of products, but the AirPort Extreme is not listed among those.

CES 2008: Intel Presented its iPhone-ish Mobile Concepts

Some devices will be available this year

Intel, the Californian microchip manufacturer, revealed back in September 2007 a new mobile concept, similar to Apple's iPhone but with a length that surpasses any other
modern handset's length (and that, of course, isn't a good thing at all). But Intel said the new device, which isn't actually a mobile phone but a UMPC with phone capabilities, brings the Moorestown platform with Silverthorne processor and is able to offer a 10x reduction in power usage. Along with the iPhone-like design and touchscreen interface, that should make a pretty good device, right? Well, until now it is only a nonfunctional concept and it's not clear whether it will be commercially available or not.

At this year's CES, Intel came not only with the previous mentioned handset, but with a whole range of iPhone-ish prototype devices based on Silverthorne processors. Unlike the UMPC unveiled last year, some of the new devices are fully functional and are also prepared to be launched during 2008. The devices are powered by the Intel Menlow mobile platform and are presented as being able to outperform any other device of this kind by using very little battery power. This performance is achieved thanks to a chemical element known as Hafnium, used on transistors to prevent energy leaks.

One of the functional Intel mobile devices, unnamed yet, comes as an UMPC with a User Interface similar to iPhone's and a full sliding QWERTY keyboard. Apparently, the device will hit the market in the second quarter of 2008, packed with either 3G or WiMAX, not both – in order to reduce the device's cost and the battery life. Other details about the future Intel mobile device are not available.

Currently, Intel powers Apple's Mac computers and it's said that the next iPhone, the 2.0 edition, will also pack Intel processors, more exactly the Silverthorne ones. We're now waiting to see how Intel's own iPhone-ish devices will be and how they can influence the mobile industry.

While the wait for Apple’s iPhone continues, Taiwan-based High Technology Corporation (HTC), announced the release of HTC Touch mobile phone based on the innovative TouchFLO technology.
